last session of the year

I'm looking forward to a little break and some much needed time to edit past sessions! I'm so happy to end 2008 on a good note. Thank goodness we had this session before the temperature got into the single digits--here is a high school cutie...not a senior, but I think his mom had one of those moments that all of us moms have where we sense time slipping away, and we just want to capture it before it's away from us. And who in their right mind wouldn't want to get some shots of this guy? :)

such a nice gift

This past spring, I got a call from a man who had started his own home building business. He wanted to give a gift certificate to a family who had just moved into the home he had built. So I sent one his way, and then I never heard anything. A few months ago, I did get a call from the recipient of the gift certificate. This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting them (and I do mean it was a pleasure...they were genuinely sweet people), and they pointed out the frame he had given to them in which to place his gift of an 8x10. We did a few more shots, but I hope they put this one in the frame:


And mom had a special request to shoot the girls playing the piano...this one is my favorite from that sequence.


And of course I couldn't resist getting each child in his/her room.

you'd have never guessed...

..that this guy was going to be an 8 pounder! His mommy was teeny tiny. And even when they are 8 pounds, they are still so little!

mommy's little surprise

The mommy of this little one was exhausted, and understandably so. So we insisted that she get some rest while her husband and I put together a little surprise for her. I'm afraid they had to wake her up after I left, because I think we worked up little A an appetite :) This session really made me want another little one. Then I got home and jumped back into reality!

These parents don't get to sit down and be lazy very often, but I'm just guessing. These two are constantly moving, boys down to the core. They look so much alike, and with those eyes I know they'll be breaking some hearts.

These curls are just too sweet.


When we told him it was ok to jump on the bed just this once, he didn't know what to do with himself. He jumped once, then stopped and looked at his mom as if to say, "are you sure?" Once he got the hang of it, he looked like a natural.

Willa

I don't normally post the names of the children I photograph. However I can't help but tell you that this little girl's name is Willa. I think it is such a neat name. A beautiful name for a beautiful baby. She slept so peacefully.

This is a first-time mommy. She is so good at it already.







An awake newborn who isn't crying! Mom and dad won the baby lottery with this one! :)

This little girl's mommy was starting to get worried that little miss L wasn't cooperating for me. But I knew we were capturing the real her and the spirit of a nearly 2 year old. I can't wait to show her the rest.



Her daddy is a firefighter, so I loved that she was playing with firetrucks...


The cold weather kept us inside for most of it, but we did go out for a short while.

let's hear it for the boys...

I mentioned when I shot the girls in this family that I'd be shooting the boys soon too (and the whole family). With coats standing by, we got about a half hour of shots in before we wimped out and went back in to get warm by the fire!









And a few from a maternity session...this momma-to-be has the tiniest tummy I've ever seen on a 36 week pregnant woman. I don't know if we could've fit many more hands on here.

session two

I'm overly excited about this session, so I'm posting lots of pics. You may recognize this little one from a few months ago. Our time together this go-around was much shorter, but we had twice as much fun and got a LOT of great pictures. She's just a doll. And she has been carrying this pumpkin around since she got it, so of course it was welcome in our pictures. I'm drooling over these colors--what a perfect perfect fall day!
