Today started about as good as it possibly could have. We just got the kids a dog this weekend, and they got attached right away (as did my husband and I). A really good dog too--loves to be loved, petted, scratched, etc. Well it ran away yesterday. We looked everywhere for it. I guess our 10 acres wasn't enough for her, because she wasn't anywhere around here. My little girl's was heartbroken, and this morning we hoped to find her in the garage; we left the door open for her all night. No such luck. Then when we least expected it, my daughter opened the door to go outside, and a FILTHY half wet/half frozen dog trampled her and licked her to pieces. We were thrilled that she found her way home. A trip to the groomer was in order (which is kind of silly since she isn't allowed inside our house anyway and will probably return to her dirty state shortly), but we are just thrilled to have her back.
And my day is ending about as good as it started. Editing this session has been a pleasure, as it always is with these two beautiful girls that I get to see a few times a year :)

I let my kids come out of the house at the end of this session, and their sweet mommy let my daughter wear her coat, because she had left hers back in the house. I looked over and saw my daughter and the younger sister hugging, so I just snapped it as quickly as I could without holding it up to my eye (completely blind). A miracle it is actually in focus!
